The Desert Song is a romantic operetta set in French Morocco, following a masked rebel leader known as the “Red Shadow” who fights colonial forces while secretly being a mild-mannered young man in love with a governor’s daughter. It features music by Sigmund Romberg with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II.
