End of an era – Peter Jones retires from SALOS Presidency – Jan 2015
Since 1990, the ‘Graham Hill Award’ is presented at the AGM to the person who the SALOS membership feel has contributed most to the current success and well being of the society as a whole.
In 2014 it was awarded to Peter Jones in recognition of the outstanding contribution he has made to SALOS.
Peter Jones has relinquished the position of SALOS President after 35 years at the helm. Peter accepted the nomination of SALOS President in 1979 taking over from founder member Maurice Owen and previously Graham Hill.
At the recent society Annual General Meeting, Peter stated his intention not to seek re-election and thanked the members present for the privilege they had afforded him of being the President of such a highly regarded musical theatre company.
Mark Newton, SALOS Chairman, thanked Peter for his many years of dedicated service and Byron Carron, Vice President, presented Peter with a gift from the society.
Peter is succeeded as President by Vice President and former Chairman, Alan Wrixon.

“Oh What a Night!” – 29th March 2014
SALOS recently enjoyed producing a concert in partnership with the Swindon Concert Band on Saturday 29th March 2014. This was a relaxed cabaret style evening, which provided an opportunity to enjoy some wonderful music from SALOS and the band, as well as the chance to win some great raffle prizes and bid for fantastic auction prizes!
NODA Award Nomination
SALOS was delighted that our recent production of ‘Sweeney Todd’ was nominated and shortlisted for the Haslemere Award for Visual Excellence by NODA for theatrical productions in 2013. This is a great achievement as the shortlist was created from productions in the South West from Wiltshire all the way through to Cornwall!
SALOS recently performing at ‘The Festival of Christmas’ at Bath Road Methodist Church on Friday 20th December 2013. SALOS joined Nathan Jones’ All Stars Jazz Band for the concert in conjunction with John Holmes from Holmes’ Music in aid of Goldenhar Family Support Group.
